The Rally
The Mongol Rally is road trip of epic proportions. 10,000 miles through 20 countries with a car bought for less than £1000 and an engine less that 1000cc. All whilst earning money for Cool Earth and our charities of choice, Mind & RSPCA. The trip of a lifetime!
The Route
Starting in Bristol, we’ll travel through some of the most beautiful places in Europe! Down under the Black Sea and then through Iran, back up through the “Stan’s” and into Mongolia. The destination isn’t important, it’s all about the journey. (Oh and we’re driving back as well…)
The Team
GK Garages is the name (Not actually a garage at all, it just makes us sound a bit more pro). Aerospace Engineers by day, biscuit enthusiasts by night. We both have a serious addiction to looking on eBay at cars we can’t afford, store or both. Thankfully we are both as foolhardy as each other, and think that we’re able to complete the world renowned Mongol Rally!
The Car
Driving to Mongolia and back didn’t seem like a challenge enough for us idiots at GK Garages. So we’ve decided to make our lives more difficult by choosing to tackle this adventure in a classic car! There is a tiny bit of method to the madness, if the car is simply made, it will be simple to fix. Also (and more importantly) we won’t be driving to some of the most beautiful places on Earth in a sh*tty little Micra! Huzza!
